Anti-oxidant. Use 0.1% (1/10 teaspoon per lb. of wax) as an antioxident for wax. Helps reduce color shift caused by oxygenation. Melt point is approximately 154° F (68 C). How it works: Many of the compounds that make up a candle are organic. Organic compounds tend to react with oxygen, which can cause the base color of the wax to change, as well as react with combinations of fragrances and dyes. When you pour and mix wax, you are introducing oxygen, which can cause the color of the finished candle to change over time. BHT binds with the oxygen molecules trapped inside the candle so that other organic compounds do not, which reduces the effects of oxygenation and color shift in candles. This product is not food grade and is unsafe for consumption. Price listed is per pound of BHT crystals. Product Metrics: |
